Seminar on Helen Keller’s 135th Birth Anniversary

Blind Persons’ Association today organised a seminar on “Helen Keller: a Retrospect” on the auspicious occasion of Helen Keller’s 135th birth anniversary at Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers. The discussion was mainly divided into two topics. In the first session presided over by Dr. Tarun Das, Professor of Narasingha Datta College (Howrah), the topic was “a critical study of inclusive education policy for the sightless”. The speakers were Dr. Devika Guha, Head of the Department of B.Ed. Section, Loretto College, Kolkata and Shri Sunirmal Bose, Member of C.E.C, BPA.

The other session was chaired by Dr. Panchali Sen, Dean of International Studies, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata and the topic of this session was “Life & struggle of Helen Keller”. The speakers were Professor Lilack Biswas of the English Department of Dinabandhu Maha Vidyalay, Bongaon, Dr. Jayashree Roy, Head of the Department of History, Women’s Christan College, Kolkata, and Shri Sukanti Majumdar, former General Secretary of BPA.
