Alice in Wonderland in Braille

Alice in Wonderland is our new Braille book. We are happy to present to our readers this Lewis Carroll book in Braille. It was first published in 1865. Inspired by its success, the author wrote its sequel Through the Looking-Glass in 1871.

Alice is sitting with her sister while she suddenly spies a white rabbit with a pocket watch. Alice is curious and keeps her eyes on the rabbit. She wants to know what the rabbit does with the pocket watch. The rabbit soon vanishes through a hole. Alice is not left behind. She runs after it and soon follows the rabbit through the hole.

Alice thus starts her adventurous journey into a strange land. She meets strange creatures who fascinate her, although in most cases she offends them. She also finds herself in trouble when she eats a drink left on a table. She becomes too large. Later she eats a cake; this time she becomes too small. The problem of change of size persists throughout the book. Alice can hardly find the right size for her.

Alice in Wonderland is a pure nonsense story. There is hardly any element of satire. What we find in it is a strange world full of mysterious creatures – the rabbit, the mouse, the caterpillar, the March hare and the Mock Turtle and many more and of course the living cards, the Queen of Hearts as their supreme leader. Millions of children have enjoyed the adventurous journey with Alice through the wonderland for years.
