rallyAbout 200 physically handicapped persons took part in the Assembly March from Subodh Mallick Square to Esplanade in the scorching sun. Some of them were practically crawling on the hot Kolkata street. They gathered under the banner of Pashchimbanga Pratibandhi Aikya Mancha, a forum of different organisations working in the field of the handicapped welfare in West Bengal.

Their demands include special schools in all districts for the blind, deaf and dumb, and mentally retarded, increase in scholarship and disability pension, BPL status for all unemployed physically handicapped persons, job under MGNREGA, and so on.
